Readying to Race at the HSRCA’s Autumn Festival

Our first race meeting of 2017 is coming up this April 8th & 9th, and we’re nearly ready to race.

The meeting will be held at Wakefield Park and takes place at the start of school holidays, so it’s a good idea to book accommodation early. If you have a vehicle with self-contained ablution that you use for accommodation and would like to stay at the circuit, contact Wakefield Park.

Championship Rounds

The meeting will host rounds of the annual point score for Groups N, S and Formulas Ford, Junior and Vee.

Probable Grids

Entrants will be grouped in much the same way as last September. A super sprint will be available for late model cars that do not fit 5th category groups, as well as Group U. We will schedule 5 or 6 events for this category of shorter duration than other events so that overall track time is equal.

Adding to the Action

For this meeting we have organised activities to entertain children, including a jumping castle and face painting, so let your friends know. A good deal of local publicity is being arranged so we expect a healthy spectator turnout.

On the Saturday, an open day will be held at the Mercure Motel where we will have a selection of cars on display and will be inviting people to head down the road and watch such cars in action. There will be pre- and post-event media announcements and live broadcasting on the day.

We will be holding the usual BBQ for officials, to which all are invited. This will take place on Saturday late afternoon and continue on through the early evening.

Extra Facilities

The HSRCA will have a marquee and some tables and chairs for those wishing to relax. The media centre will be available as a quiet space for folks.

Garages and Carports

The circuit will be ours on Friday and garages and carports will be accessible from early morning. Scrutineering will take place at the usual time.

We will post the allocation on the web soon and provide updates. We will do our best to meet all requests.

Gate Entry and Passes

As we did last year, entry to the circuit on Saturday will be free before 8am (the drivers briefing) and people can collect documents and passes after they arrive.

Entry documents will also be available via the website. If you wish to have passes set aside for collection at the gate after 8am on Saturday morning, please let us know so that we can assist with arrangements.  This process avoids congestion for arrival on Saturday morning and saves anxiety and cost about the post.

New Noise Meter

An important reminder is that Wakefield Park now has a very sensitive noise meter that identifies the car that trips it by photo, emailing circuit management immediately. They are obliged to be rigorous so take some means of dealing with it if in doubt.

Fuel

Goulburn airport has been advised of our meeting and Avgas can be purchased there. Other fuel can be supplied by Wakefield Park. There is a 40 litre limit to storage in garages and car ports also, again an external requirement.

Fun

We are there for enjoyment. The last two meetings have been relatively free of incidents and have finished each day ahead of schedule. That encourages us to build in a little more track time. Thank you for being considerate to each other, it helps make for a happy time.

Spectators

The effort to attract more spectators may result in more children on site and it will be important to ensure that they are safe. Appropriate procedures are in preparation, particularly to manage spectator movement as cars leave the circuit and within the paddock. Please take care.

Support and Sponsorship

The Goulburn Information Centre are helping us with promotion. We will display two cars at the Mercure Motel Open Day on 8 April, a Valiant Charger that actually ran at Bathurst and Garry Hancock’s Brabham BT23. Gosford Classic Car Museum is providing the Charger. Wakefield Park Raceway people are very supportive of our intentions and particularly helpful.
