HSRCA Autumn Festival Set for a Magic Weekend of Historic Racing April 7-8

The HSRCA’s 2018 Autumn Festival will keep Wakefield Park busy over the weekend of the 7th & 8th of April, presenting a packed schedule of historic motorsport to recapture the atmosphere and excitement of the golden age of motor racing.

The event will see a wonderful field of historic cars, including sports, racing and touring cars from the ’30s all the way through to the ’90s, driven with verve and vigour around the classic countryside circuit.

The Autumn Festival will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Formula Junior, commemorate the life of Jim Clark, welcome the BMW 30 Racing group to an HSRCA event for the first time and much, much more.

Competing cars will include classic touring and sports cars from Australia and around the world, magnificent rear-engined race cars of the ‘60s and ‘70s, big-engined ‘wings ‘n slicks’ cars of that same era and one-off specials that show off the ingenuity and inventiveness of classic motorsport. The event will also include a super sprint category, which will give more modern cars, up to the late ‘90s, an opportunity to hit the track.

The motorsport will fire up on Saturday morning with qualifying and carry on throughout the weekend with races starting after lunch on Saturday and continuing on through to Sunday afternoon. Wakefield Park is an awesome circuit for spectators, with its open layout providing views around the full circuit and different vantage points allowing you to get right up close to the action.

When you’ve had your fill of on-track action, take some time to explore the pits and paddock. The historic motorsport community is one of the most welcoming and friendly around, and the sport allows unparalleled access to the cars and their drivers and crews. Have a chat, make a few new friends and develop a greater appreciation for these magic old machines and the people who care for them.

To accompany the motorsport, we’ll be organising activities for kids and families, putting on a car club display and making the most of Wakefield Park’s facilities, which provide a space to kick back, catch-up and grab a bite to eat.

The Autumn Festival will be a fun, welcoming and entertaining celebration of Australia’s motorsport history and culture. Come along for a few hours to enjoy the cars and racing in excellent company.
