Introducing the HSRCA’s 2017 Summer Festival

The Summer Festival is set for the 11th & 12th of November, 2017, and will see the HSRCA returning to Sydney Motorsport Park for the first time in 2017 to hold our biggest historic race meeting of the year.

The return to Sydney Motorsport Park’s flowing curves and longer straights will give some of the more powerful cars a chance to stretch their legs, and will offer a great mix of challenges and opportunities for exciting competition. Its excellent facilities and proximity to the city make it a great place to hold a race meeting, and we’re looking forward to putting together a brilliant meeting to close out 2017’s historic motorsport season.

The focus of this meeting will be on providing plenty of quality track time and a safe, smoothly-run opportunity to get out and enjoy our historic sports and racing cars, good company and a festive atmosphere representative of the golden age of the sport.

Groups LMO and S will be featured during the Summer Festival and will be offered feature events including the classic Dawson-Damer trophy and the always-exciting Group S Enduro Relay.

Keeping the circuit singing all weekend will be races for 5th Category historic groups, including JKLM, OPQR, N, S and Formulas Ford, Junior and Vee. Regularity trials and super sprints will also be offered, as will a speed (non-race) event for racing and sports racing cars.

In particular we would like to know the level of interest in a speed event for racing and sports racing cars. It is an opportunity to give some very special cars a fun run or offer someone else a drive in your car.  Please let us know and talk to Col Haste about it on 0408 865 629 or via email at hastbld@bigpond.com.

Most 5th Category groups will have trophy events to decide their perpetual trophies over the course of the weekend, and we’re looking forward to interesting fields and great races as those are decided.

HSRCA members will, of course, be offered the $50 members’ discount for entry to the meeting. If you’re not a member and would like to become one ahead of the meeting, please head to our membership page here and join the Club. The Club offers a wonderful camaraderie and a varied programme of opportunities to enjoy the historic motorsport community, both social and competitive.

We expect to open entries in mid-August.

On that note, entry is now open for the upcoming Spring Festival, which will be held at Wakefield Park over the 2nd and 3rd of September, with private practice available on Friday the 1st. Come along and enjoy an exciting weekend of motorsport in Goulburn’s stunning countryside.

Head to the CAMS website to place your entry.

As always, we are extremely grateful for your support and contribution to the sport of historic racing. We will continue our efforts to put on events that are safe and exciting, offer good value and high quality track time, and show off the depth of motorsport history in Australia by keeping engines hot, rubber melty and race tracks busy.
