Come Along to CARnivale this Australia Day

Join us at CARnivale this Australia Day, Thursday the 26th of January, where the HSRCA will be honoured by hosting the featured display.

We will have several cars on display that ran at Parramatta Park back in the 1950s. These will include the Maybach, Q-Type MG, Cooper MG and Day Special. Two RALTs will also be on display demonstrating the early and late eras of Ron Tauranac’s contribution to motorsport.

The event will celebrate Parramatta Park’s relatively unknown motorsport history. In the early-to-mid ’50s the park hosted a two-mile grand prix circuit which saw the likes of Sir Jack Brabham, Stan Jones and Ron Tauranac race in front of huge crowds of spectators. This year’s event commemorates the 60th anniversary of the closure of the circuit.

The broader CARnivale display will feature hundreds of cars, bikes and other vehicles from all manner of motoring history and pursuit. Other attractions include Sydney’s biggest hot air balloon sky display, which kicks off the day at 6AM, the Big BBQ, the Crescent featuring entertainment for kids, a free all-ages Triple J Hottest 100 party and a fireworks display to wrap up the day at 9PM.

CARnivale kicks off officially at 9AM, but you’ll find plenty to see and do in the area before then. It will be held at Parramatta Park on the corner of Pitt St & Macquarie St, Parramatta. For more details head to the Australia Day in Parramatta website here.
